Aidan Beimer

Aidan Beimer is a master’s student in Music Theory. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas, where he majored in Music Education with a concentration in French Horn. His research interests include early 20th century techniques, specifically the blending of atonality and tonality in the works of Alban Berg, as well electronic music and American folk music. Outside of his studies, Aidan teaches guitar and is a composer. He explores electronic music, focusing on the border of digital and analog instruments.

Melinda Knowling

Melinda Knowling is pursuing an MA in Music Theory at the University of North Texas where she will also serve as a teaching assistant. Prior to attending UNT she received a B.M in Piano Performance from the University of Iowa studying under the tutelage of Dr. Alan Huckleberry and Dr. Rene Lecuona. Her music theory interests include Schoenbergian Analysis, and theory pedagogy to students of all ages and levels.

Matthew Oliver

Matthew Oliver received a Master's Degree in Music Theory Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University, where he completed a final project based on differentiating instruction in the music theory classroom. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Stetson University, where he received an award for Student Teaching Excellence. He is currently a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas, where he is pursuing a PhD in Music Theory.

Cheryl Bates

Cheryl Bates is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at Henderson State University and a Music Theory PhD student at the University of North Texas. She was a Teaching Fellow at UNT from 2014-2017.  Cheryl completed her Bachelor’s in Music Theory at the University of Oklahoma and an M.M and D.M.A. in Music Education at the University of Houston. She has taught all levels of music - elementary and secondary in public schools, and in higher education. Cheryl taught over a decade at Lone Star College and authored many grant awards for the music program there.
