Dr. Andrew Chung published an article entitled, "“Songs of the New World and the Breath of the Planet at the Orbis Spike, 1610: Toward a Decolonial Musicology of the Anthropocene," in the Journal of the American Musicological Society, vol. 76/1.
Dr. Rebecca Geoffroy-Schwinden received two nationally competitive awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities. An NEH Summer Stipend will support her research for a project entitled Stories of Music, Luxury, and Loss in the Age of Revolutions (1760s–1820s).
Tamar Sella (PhD, Harvard University) will join the Division of Music History, Theory, and Ethnomusicology as an Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology in the fall of 2023.
Jessica Stearns (PhD, Musicology, 2022) accepted a position as tenure-track assistant professor of music at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Yuxin Mei (PhD, Ethnomusicology) will present a lecture recital on Friday, March 31 at 8:00pm in Voertman Recital Hall entitled "The Changing Images of Women in 20th-Century Pipa Music."
Dr. Justin Lavacek was elected to a three-year term on the executive board of the Texas Society for Music Theory (TSMT).
