Student Award
Emily Roman (BA in Music; Emphasis in Music History) won a University Writing Award for her essay, “Nietzsche’s Wagner.” She will be pursuing a master's degree in musicology at Michigan State University in the fall.
Student Publication
Júlia Coelho (PhD, Musicology) published a co-authored chapter "The Art of Liminality," in The Liminal Loop, ed. Timothy Carson. Cambridge: Lutterworth Press, 2022. Her portion of the chapter is entitled "Sea, Saudade, and Liminality” and concerns 13th-century Galician-Portuguese cantigas d'amigo by Martin Codax from Pergamiño Vindel.
Student Achievement
Emily Hicks (PhD, Musicology) received a grant from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) to conduct dissertation research in Augsburg this summer. Her dissertation is entitled, "Music of Augsburg: The Cultural Impact of Civic Musicians in Early Modern Germany."
Alumni Award
Dr. James ("Chip") Parsons (PhD, musicology, 1992) was appointed Distinguished Professor by Missouri State University, where he has taught since 1995. The award is granted in recognition of excellence in research.
