John Rhodes

Johnathan Rhodes is a first-year Ph.D. Student in Ethnomusicology at UNT. Originally from Hot Springs, Arkansas, John holds a B.A in History and Music from St. John’s University in Minnesota. He also received an M.M. in Vocal Performance and an M. A. in Musicology from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver where he served as a GTA for the Musicology department. His research focuses on the relationship between historical memory and colonialism in the music of South Asia and the music of the Catholic Church in India.  Additionally, his academic interests include protest music, nationalism and identity, memorialization and place, and video game music.
