Hunter Hancock

Hunter S. Hancock is a Master's student with a concentration in Historical Musicology, for which she also serves as a Teaching Assistant. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance at Texas Woman's University in 2019, where she also studied as an Athenian Honors Scholar and an English minor. During her undergraduate studies, she earned the Chancellor's Student Research Scholar award, toured with the TWU Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Joni Jensen, studied abroad in Paris, and obtained a grant to study at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. with her mentor, Dr. Jennifer Youngs. She has a myriad of research interests, the most prominent including the vocal literature of Belle Époque France, the representation of occultism and witchcraft in 19th-century music, the intersection of music and the visual art of the Impressionists, and the application of historical phonology in contemporary vocal performance.
